Cameroon - Niger: Nigerian and Cameroonian stadium officials clash

The Niger team was almost twenty minutes behind time when they arrived at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Omnisports Stadium in Yaounde, on Monday.

This resulted in a tension between the ostentatiously Nigerian leaders and Cameroonian officials of the stadium. The cause was the refusal by the Cameroonian side to let the Nigerian selection access the stadium locker room upon their arrival.

This annoyed François Zahoui and his men, who observed a furtive temper, after the players refused to train. They were also offended that the lawn was not prepared before their arrival.

"We know that when we get to the field, we must find the pitch prepared. The lines were not drawn, the changing rooms were not made available. I wondered how I was going to relieve myself if I felt the need," said Cheick Diabaté Omar, the assistant coach of Niger.

When they finally resolved to work, Nigerian leaders demanded a closed session; out of sight of the Cameroonian public. The Cameroonian police were therefore asked to strip spans to meet the desiderata of Niger.

Moussa Maazou and his friends finally made a light training session, punctuated by a simple muscle toning, some ball exercises (bull) and without setting up tactic.
