This revelation was made on 4th December 2014 by the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, while defending the 2015 budget at the National Assembly in Yaounde.
The four towns short-listed for this great plan are: Limbe, Bafoussam, Sangmelima and Bamenda all from the South-West, West, South and North West Regions respectively.
The construction of these low-cost houses will be done by some engineers and experts from China.
Apart from the construction of low-cost houses, the following developmental projects have also been earmarked:
-39 km of rain run-off drainage canals in Douala.
-Extension of road networks in Yaounde and Douala.
-The construction of the MINHDU Regional Delegation buildings in Maroua and Ngaoundere.
-The training of young people in petty trades in the Youth Empowerment Centres of Bamenda II, Ngaoundere II and Messsamena.
These projects will be carried out with a draft budget of FCFA 103.2 billion FCFA.
