10th round of national polio immunisation begins

The tenth round of the polio vaccination campaign was launched on Friday 5th December 2014 all over the national territory.

Government’s commitment to eradicate polio from the national territory let the vaccination teams deployed in bus stations, markets, schools hospitals streets and neighbourhoods.

In Yaounde, the vaccination team from 13 health districts explored the Mvan and Etoudi Bus Stations to have children take a dose before travelling.

In the Economic Capital-Douala, where some 602,122 children are targeted, the Littoral Secretary General Ludovic Ngbwa led the medics to the Ngongmondo neighbourhood of the Douala 1 subdivision where he cautioned parents to cooperate with the vaccination team.

The Regional Delegate for Public health Martin Yamba on the occasion said the Government and international partners will not relent until Cameroon is declared polio-free.

By taking the campaign to the door steps of the target group, health experts intend to facilitate and attain as many children as possible.

As three days intensive campaign ends in some regions, a similar exercise begins from the 17th to 21st December 2014 in other parts of the country.
