The first plenary sitting of the third Ordinary session of the National Assembly has held.
So far the lower house has scrutinised six government draft bills under the leadership of House Speaker, Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril for ratification.
The six government bills are:
•The authorisation of the President of the Republic to ratify the Organisation of the African Unity, OAU Convention on the prevention and combating of terrorism adopted in Algiers, Algeria on 14th July 2014.
•The Protocol on OAU Convention in the prevention and combating of Terrorism adopted in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on 8th July 2014 so as to enhance effective implementation of peace and security in the continent.
•The Charter of the African Cultural Renaissance adopted in Khartoum, Sudan on 24th October 2006.The charter encourages cultural diversity.
•The membership of Cameroon to the African Union Convention for the Protection and Assistance of the internally-displaced Persons (IDPs) in Africa that was adopted in Kamapala in Uganda on 22nd October 2009.
•The Ordinance No. 2014/1 of 7 July 2014 on reducing Special Tax on Petroleum Products (STPP) and other taxes paid by passengers of heavy duty vehicles.
•The Lake Chad Basin Water Charter that was implemented in N`Djamena in Chad on 30th April 2012 on sustainable development.
It is worth noting that these six government bills tabled by Government were examined during first four days of the present session.
Speaking during the opening ceremony, the House speaker asked a number of thought provoking questions destined to Ministers of Economy, Planning and Regional Development, Justice and Keeper of Seals and Communication through the Prime Minister Head of Government, Philemon Yang.
