2018 Elections :Grand North for Paul Biya’s Candidature

Traditional leaders, Section Presidents and political elites of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) of the three northern Regions, notably the Adamawa, North and Far North, have urged the President of the Republic and Chairman of the CPDM to be candidate in the next presidential election.

In a Motion of Support and Deference issued after a meeting hosted by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril on January 29, 2016 in Yaounde, the elites said their support is to enable Paul Biya pursue the process of nation building which he has already engaged with wisdom and experience for a peaceful, united, democratic, prosperous, emergent and strong Cameroon.

Lamido de Garoua, SM Alim Garga HayatouThe President of the Economic and Social Council, Ayang Luc, the Lamido of Garoua, His Majesty Alim Garga Hayatou, business magnate, El Hadj Abbo Ousmanou of Ngaoundere, and several other dignitaries, members of government and corporate executives who attended the meeting, were unanimous that given efforts deployed to promote peace and social justice in Cameroon since his accession to power in 1982, landmark socio-economic achievements, attention to three Northern Regions and trust in their sons and daughters, amongst others, Paul Biya had their total support. “We also affirm our total support to him for the crusade that he is leading against terrorism and insecurity, in general, in order to preserve the integrity of our national territory,” read the Motion of Support.

Likewise, Paul Biya’s recent gesture to support vigilante groups as well as the presidential couple’s show of compassion to war victims, ignited the expression of gratitude from the elite, on behalf of members of the vigilante groups and victims’ families.
