3 year Emergency Plan: Minister Djoumessi gives kick-off

The Minister of Planning and Regional Development Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, has indicated that contractors have already been mobilised to ensure the effective kick off of the three year emergency development plan announced by the Head of State.

The minister made the revelation during a Press briefing in Yaounde after signing funding agreements at the Prime Minister’s office.

The agreement worth FCFA 925 billion was signed between the government of Cameroon coordinated by the Prime Minister and the representative of the five financing banks that will provided the much needed finances to funds the three year emergency development plan.

During the signing ceremony, Minister Emannual Nganou Njoumessi said according to the terms of the agreement, contractors concerned with the contingency plan, must have started work by 22nd December 2014.

To ensure that an ordinary Cameroonian feels the impact of the plan upon completion, the Minister said focus is on seven priority areas across the country. The priority areas of the three year emergency development plan include:

- urban infrastructure and housing

- health

- agriculture and livestock

- roads networks

- energy development

- Portable water supply

- urban security

The five financial houses that have already signed up to ensure financial support for the emergency plan are:

- the Deutche Bank Madrid/CAIXABANK

- Banque Atlantique Cameroun

- BGFI Bank

- Ecobank

- Standard Chartered Bank.
