Health officials of the regional hospital in Ngaoundere say the woman who had travelled from Mayo Tsanaga in the Far North Region where more than 2000 people have died of cholera, died shortly after having been diagnosed of the disease.
Eight members of her family were diagnosed positive of this disease after the director of the regional hospital had deployed some health personnel for a quick search and screening.
The home of the deceased was disinfected and the eight infected persons were kept under strict isolation while being administered treatment.
These 8 infected have recovered shortly after treatment. The Regional Delegate of Public Health urged the population of Adamawa to continue to maintain good hygiene and sanitation in order to fight against any cholera case in Adamawa; this case being the first of its kind in the region.
