6 PHJK students die in car accident

Six students from the Pan African Institute for Development in Buea in the South West Region have lost their lives in a motor accident.

The accident occurred at 9:00 am on 3rd February 2015 along the Ekona - Muyuka road on their way to Kumba for a field trip.

Eye-witnesses testified that the 35-seater bus carrying more than 40 students from the Pan African Institute for Development in Buea collided with a Prado Toyota with more than three passengers, around the Ekona - Muyuka road leaving eight people dead.

Six (6) of the deceased were students from the Pan African Institute, five Cameroonians and a national from Equatorial-Guinea. The other two were passengers from the Prado Toyota.

The remains of the deceased have been taken to the Buea Regional Hospital mortuary for identification. Victims who sustained injuries were taken to the same hospital and Douala for treatement.

Reports say that the 35-seater bus was already in bad shape, before the horrific incident.

Investigations have been opened, especially as many are heaping blame on the authorities of the Pan African Institute for hiring a dilapidated bus for such an impirtant mission.
