622 km of road constructed in total in 2014 - Govt

In presenting to the members the balance sheet of the Government of Cameroon in the area of construction of road infrastructure in the fiscal year, the Prime Minister, Philémon Yang, revealed that throughout this year, 373 Km of roads have been paved on the national territory.

According to the same source, 249 other Km of roads have been rehabilitated which makes total of 622 Km of roads on which the Cameroonian State invested in 2014.

With 373 Km of road newly paved this year, the Cameroonian Government wished to pave an average of 300 Km each year, in order to reach the bar of 8500 Km of roads paved by 2020, against approximately 6000 Km currently.

Originally this delay in the construction of roads, support several experts, the high cost of the tarring in Cameroon, which would be double the average practiced in Africa, a trend that the government wished to reverse, by implementing the production units of inputs, such as crushing plants.
