According to government, teachers, in service mostly in rural areas, who teach in public schools, paid by the Parents Teachers Association, PTA will soon be integrated into the government teachers scheme. A seminar was organised to that effect to explain massive recruitment issues and encourage the accession of all stakeholders chaired by Minister Youssouf Hadjidja Alim on Friday in Yaounde.
"Recruitment will not take place at once, it will be spread over a three years period, where about 3,000 will be recruited per year", explained the Minister.
Everything has already been put in place for the successful operation of the decision and funds are already available: 26.5 billion, granted by the global partnership for education under the supervision of the World Bank. Planning for the recruitment program is made.
Such massive recruitment will have real impacts on the education system in general especially at the level of the basic education. This is as a result of the fact that rural areas suffer most from the lack of teachers, with a teacher/ student ratio below 1/70.
