A policeman killed and another wounded by Boko Haram

The Islamist members of the sect attacked a police station in the border town of Amchide Friday morning.

Islamists of the Boko Haram sect continue to score points on Cameroonian territory. Recently, the Nigerian terrorist group targeted more Cameroonian security sites and Cameroonian forces.

Just a few days ago, the gendarmerie brigade in Bonderi (Mora) was attacked; several weapons and boxes of ammunition were blown away by the attackers after wounding the old Constable who was on guard.

Members of the sect broke into the town of Amchide Friday morning when Muslims were preparing to close shops for Friday prayers. With their bikes, they made several tours in the city while firing gun shots in the air which frightened traders and made them disperse in several directions. The attackers then took advantage of the stampede to loot shops in the Amchide market.

The armed gang then headed to the police station in Nariki where they opened fire on the policemen who were on guard. The peacekeeper Messi Séraphin died after multiple bullets received from these aggressors. His colleague, police inspector Ombe Serge was injured and immediately rushed to the military hospital in Maroua where the bullets will be extracted.

This umpteenth attack from members of Boko Haram on security installations in Cameroon and the far North in particular gives the impression that the sect is short of weapons and ammunition for its various operations in Nigeria and counts on regaining them from various police stations and gendarmerie posts in Cameroon.

There is however the need for security to be boosted in the Country against this sect.
