Several corroborating sources had attributed the attack and the abduction of 16 Cameroonians in Garoua-Boulai to veterans of the politico-military group FDPC of General Abdoulaye Miskine.
The Front Démocratique du Peuple Centrafricain (FDPC) created by General Abdoulaye Miskine issued a press release on Sunday, March 22, 2015 to deny its involvement in the abduction of the Lagdo Mayor and 15 other Cameroonians near the Garoua-Boulai in the Eastern Region.
"Indeed, we men of the FDPC's General Abdoulaye Miskine, have nothing to do with this kidnapping and we do not have any close or far involvement. On what reasons should we act that way?" queried the press release.
According to Colonel Pierre Yakoua, Minister of defence of the FDPC who signed the release, noted that this reaction has evolved because they are "faced with accusations from Cameroonian security authorities".
For the Colonel, their single claim with the Cameroonian authorities was the release of the General Abdoulaye Miskine; done a few months ago.
Colonel Pierre Yakoua recognized that their group in the past had organised kidnappings in Cameroon, but the hostages had always been treated well and the FDPC has never demanded ransom.
"If once we have mistreated a Cameroonian citizen or had requested ransom, before releasing the hostages; we demand the Cameroonian authorities as well as anyone who refutes this fact to come up with evidence to support" wrote Colonel Yakoua.
The Minister of defence revealed that the FDPC has never shed the blood of a Cameroonian because their group is not "a terrorist movement or a group of drug traffickers and bandits association nor adventurers.
