Across the Hammocks of Furu Awa

Parliamentary candidate, Ndong Hilary Hills, offers boat to facilitate transportation over river Katsina-Ala.

Menchum North constituency which covers the Subdivisions of Fungom and Furu Awa appeals for special attention as one of the most remote areas in the country. They have been crying in the rain for roads and other development projects to disenclave the area. It is against this backdrop that the opposition, SDF party went campaigning in the constituency with a message and special gifts that inspire hope for the population.

Ni John Fru Ndi's party features, parliamentary aspirant, Ndong Hilary Hills as the joker to make things happen in Menchum North, on September 30, 2013. In effect, Ndong Hilary Hills, fondly called "Wum boy", launched SDF campaigns in Furu Awa on September 15 with a lot to show in efforts to help disenclave the far away, Subdivision. On-the-spot, the population cheered Ndong Hilary for the rare gift of a boat to facilitate transportation over the killer, river Katsina-ala. He was also praised for sponsoring the recent construction of temporal bridges in Kwep, Nsei and Lebong villages.

Ndong Hilary Hills and the SDF campaign Manager for the area, Nkwa Donatus, fondly called "menchum" also took the SDF message of change and power to the people across the hanging bridge in Nkang village. Access to and from Furu Awa from Esu in neighbouring Fungom Sub division is either by trekking for days or by commercial motorcycle which fetch as much as FCFA 30,000 to hire.

Ndong Hilary later retired from the area with the commitment to seek international assistance to disenclave Furu Awa Subdivision, if given a chance with a good vote for the SDF on September 30, 2013.
