Kildadi Taguiéké Boukar refused to wear a “spiritually cooked” gandoura offered to him by a mayor.

According to the rites and customs of the people of the northern part of Cameroon, the offer of a gandoura usually carries two symbols. First, the donor believes in you greatly and secondly; he wants to bless you. In the latter case, you become a servant.

This may be to avoid being part of the second category as the Governor of the Adamawa region refused to take the gandoura offered by Mayor Abdurahman Labi.

This April 7, 2016, the newspaper L’Oeil du Sahel reported that it was at the end of a working session chaired by the Governor of Adamawa while he was touring Ngaoui, in which this was presented to him. Advancing with other elites towards the Governor, Mayor Abdurahman Labi who was holding a gandoura was intercepted with his staff by the protocol.

That’s when Kildadi Taguiéké Boukar “reached out his hand to collect the gift instead of being worn on him in public,” the newspaper said. It’s also in the hands of the protocol that the gift finally completed its journey.

Indeed, “two or three days before the arrival of the Governor, a persistent rumor circulated that a mystically crafted gandoura would be given to him,” said one resident of Ngaoui. This rumour reached the ears of the Governor’s delegation.

“The Governor certainly received information about what was going to happen at the ceremony. He played the card of caution,“ said one member of the delegation of the Governor of the region of Adamawa.

The foregoing facts did not prevent the ceremony to continue. Following the welcome speech of the Mayor of Ngaoui, Kildadi Taguiéké Boukar meet his constituents on matters of security problems, school, health and many others.
