A crisis meeting was held September 30, 2014 in Maroua. This meeting was intended for administrative and traditional rulers of Maroua II district to find solutions to Boko Haram. During the meeting, hundreds of traditional leaders developed methods to overcome the Islamist sect.
Indeed, traditional leaders have all time played a leading role in intelligence through vigilance committees in the war that leads Cameroon against the Boko Haram sect. But it has often happened that they became targets of the Nebula for having provided information to the authorities.
Today, every villagers has realized the need to denounce suspects. And the association for the protection of children away from their families (Apeef) supported by the national commission on human rights and freedoms are thrown into battle. They come to initiate exchanges that were worn on the monitoring of movements of populations and the strengthening of village vigilance committees.
