Agents of change, not objects of aid

The U.S. Embassy in Cameroon, Cultural Affairs Officer and Cultural Affairs Assistant, received Anne Gregory, an American artist based in Durham, North Carolina, and Obolo Pascale, Chief Editor of Afrika DAA in Paris, France to present them with a grant to support their project with African Action on AIDS (AAA).

The project, “Looking at History Through the Eyes of a Child” will educate girls in hopes of breaking the cycle of AIDS.

African Action on AIDS works with a network of more than 150 villages in Cameroon, teaching these communities about AIDS, as well as helping them improve their general health status.

An important mission of AAA is sending girls orphaned by AIDS to school by providing scholarships.

In a follow up meeting, Dr. Engo, founder of AAA, thanked the embassy for their financial support and stated that the funding will help empower these young girls who are “ agents of change, not objects of aid”.
