Alain Sibenaler Bids Farewell to UNFPA, African Synergy

The emotionally packed ceremony took place yesterday, Sept 18 at the headquarters of African Synergy.

September 18, 2013 at the headquarters of African Synergy Against AIDS and Suffering, this banner with message : "First Lady of Cameroon, Mrs Chantal Biya and the other First Ladies of African Synergy Against AIDS and Suffering say thank you and good bye to the representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Alain Sibenaler," welcomed an impressed Alain Sibenaler who came to say good-bye to staff of African Synergy.

UNFPA had an effective and constant collaboration over the last five years to curb maternal mortality and HIV amongst other health problems. On hand to receive Alain Sibenaler was the Executive Secretary of African Synergy, Jean Stephane Biatcha whom in a warm address, lacked words to describe the effective, and concrete support the association of African First Ladies has received from UNFPA especially due to the added and personal interest of Alain Sibenaler in supporting the ideas of the First Ladies.

While highlighting some of the actions carried out by UNFPA, such as additional assistance to First Ladies in developing more strategies to curb maternal mortality, sensitise youths on HIV, Stephane Biatcha said the association will continue to work with the out-going UNFPA representative. Alain Sibenaler said one of his most remarkable moments in Cameroon was that he was able to witness the personal engagement, leadership and implication of the First Lady, Mrs Chantal Biya in reducing maternal and infant mortality and preventing HIV/AIDS.

More important to him is that Cameroon's First Lady gave her patronage in the campaign for Accelerated Reduction of Maternal Mortality in Cameroon (CARMMA) in 2010.
