Alarming rate of child theft causes panic in Konye

The people of Konye Chief town of Konye Sub Division are currently living in fear as the rate of 'Child theft and disappearance' has taken a different dimension in the area. A day would not pass without complaints of this new phenomenon being heard from town folks.

A recent case which is making rounds in Konye, is one concerning Kalle Sidoni of Bakossi. Reports have it that, Kalle arrived from a neigbouring village to deliver at the Konye District Hospital, but unfortunately for her, she ran short of blood and was referred to the Maneyemen hospital.

While at the Maneyemen hospital, Kalle is reported to have being drugged by a strange woman. When she recovered, she couldn’t find her baby.

A man hunt was launched to trace the where about of the child. After eleven good days of search, the child was discovered in the keeping of a woman of Nigerian Nationality in Besongabang village of Manyu Division.

The lady was taken to the police and upon interrogation; it was revealed that, this Nigerian woman dealt in this child theft business. According to reports at the time of arrest, they found about FCFA 3.5million in her possession.
