The second ordinary session for the 2015 Legislative year opens this Wednesday in Yaounde to be chaired by Senate President, Marcel Niat Njifenji.
The Hemicycle of the Yaounde Congress Centre is set to host members of the Senate who begin converging on Yaounde today June 10, 2015, for the 2nd Ordinary session of the 2015 Legislative year, going by Section 4 sub-Section 1 of Law No. 2013/06 of 10 June, 2013 on the Standing Orders of the Senate.
The opening ceremony slated for 3pm will be chaired by the Senate President, Marcel Niat Njifenji, in the presence of the President of the National Assembly and cabinet ministers.
Meanwhile, all is set at the Congress Centre to welcome the Senators for the next one month. When Cameroon Tribune visited the seat of the Senate yesterday June 9, 2015, the red carpet leading to the hemicycle had already been unrolled while cleaners were busy mopping floor and dusting the flowers in the lobby of the Congress Centre.
Inside the hemicycle, sitting positions with name tags were already in place while the sound system was tested and confirmed functional for the session.
As at press time yesterday, technicians were at work to ensure the good functioning of the electronic interpretation devices installed on every seat of the house.
As of yesterday morning, several Senators were spotted at the Mont Febe Hotel in Yaounde while others were expected to arrive before the end of the day.
Senator Andrew Otte Mofa, Questor of the Senator Bureau sounded upbeat to start the June session with high expectations to build the House which he described as new.
