Authorities target 100% execution of public contracts

The ministry responsible for public contracts revealed their objectives during a conference dubbed the ceremony of vows on Thursday in Yaoundé.

The ceremony for the presentation of New Year wishes to the Minister delegate at the Presidency of the Republic, in charge of public procurement (Minmap), Abba Sadou had a grand opportunity to take stock of the past year and especially to talk about the future.

The Minmap invited his staff to partake in the work. He tried to correct the errors of the past in order to go on a new basis. Abba Sadou however focused on the new reform. He asked his staff to maintain the cap retaining programmes and the road map assigned to the Department with bonus on the strengthening of the quality of procurement. The transparency of the procedures must be preserved.

At the opening of the work of the 3rd annual conference of the leaders of the Central and decentralized services of his Department that took place a day earlier, the Minmap said that the question of the under-consumption of appropriations for public investment is no longer a distant memory this year.

To win this bet, he invited all stakeholders to play their roles. Abba Sadou also gave details on what he called 'innovation' for this year. In fact, the Procurement Department has ambition to change the situation, particularly as regards invitations to tender.

It is essential that they be launched the first 4 or 5 months of the year, the contracts also signed in the same period. The remaining 8 months should be devoted exclusively to the execution on the ground of the most 8,000 markets expected this year. With the hope of reaching 90, even 100% of the rate of implementation.
