Aviation authority acquire 6 vehicles for airport security

The aviation authority has recently acquired six rescue vehicles for the airports of Bafoussam, Bertoua, and Ngaoundéré.

In just a few weeks, the level of protection at the Bafoussam, Bertoua, and Ngaoundéré airports will be enhanced with the arrival of fire trucks recently acquired by the aeronautical authority. The reception at the factory of these equipments took place July 30, 2014 in Saint-Nazaire in France, at the headquarters of the industrial society for the development of security (SIDES).

This took place in the presence of experts from the Agency for the safety of air navigation in Africa and Madagascar (ASECNA), Pierre Tankam, the Director general of the Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority (CCAA), coming from Dakar, Adolphe Noah Ndongo, administrator representing the Presidency of the Republic at the Board of Directors of the CCAA and Dieudonné Belle Amougou, administrator representing the services of the Prime Minister.

Approved facilities consist of two vehicles with average fire power (VIMP) for the airport of Ngaoundéré, a vehicle with small fire power (VIPP) for Bertoua airport, a vehicle track (Flyco), a VIMP and a VIPP for Bafoussam airport.

The three vehicles with average fire power are all-terrain vehicles with 6-wheel drive. They have a rainwater tank with a capacity of 6,100 litres, while the two trucks with small power fire are all-terrain vehicles with a tank with a capacity of 4,000 litres.

This acquisition is part of an extensive programme of modernisation of secondary airports in Cameroon. Two vehicles of the average fire-fighting power and two-car tracks had already been received and delivered in March 2013 at the airports of Maroua-Salak and Ngaoundéré. The delivery of the other trucks is expected no later than 2016 for the airports of Bamenda, Tiko, Mamfe, Batouri and Kribi.
