Awing raise 30 million for development

Elites from Awing meeting under the banner of the Ndong Awing Cultural and Development association, NACDA held their mid-year general assembly on Saturday June 28 in Yaounde during which over 35 million were raised to finance development projects in the area.

The women contributed about 3.5 millions while the bulk of the money, 26.5 million was donated by the general assembly excluding pledges amounting to about 3 million.

During the meeting placed under the theme, “Dreaming big and achieving big”, the general president of NACDA, Dr Ndam Nguh-Mbi, rendered public the road map for development in the area.

The plan to be piloted by the Awing Economic Council comprise the development of the road infrastructure the extension of water, electricity, health facilities and the provision of new information technologies like a multi media centre and a community radio.

The road map also includes the organization of educational and recreational activities such as teaching the awing language and organization of sports competitions such as the President general ‘ Youth Solidarity Cup with a cash prize of FCFA500.000, the NACDA inter branch solidarity tournament with a trophy worth one million.

There is also the Mount Lefo race and efforts are underway to fructify the greatest touristic attraction of the area, Lake awing.
