Bafoussam to be transformed with FCFA 18 Billion

Emmanuel Nzete Government Delegate to the Bafoussam City Council has announced that the Western Regional capital has benefitted from a financial package worth FCFA 18 billion.

This money, he said, will be used for infrastructural development, within the French Debt Relief and Development Contract, C2D.

The Government Delegate, was speaking in the conference hall of the Bafoussam City Council on February 24, during a special communication forum that was attended by heads of different communities, Council personnel and media practitioners.

“With this financial package from the C2D, Bafoussam will definitely be transformed, since roads will be rehabilitated, basic social services will be improved while numerous infrastructures will be constructed,” the Delegate stated.

Nzete, also outlined the measures that have been taken by his Council to give the city of Bafoussam a facelift. He said the financial package will be used to boost the Councils’ hygiene and sanitation drive, rehabilitation of roads, support vulnerable persons and contribute to the sporting infrastructures in the municipality, among others.

As far as hygiene and sanitation is concerned, Nzete said measures have been taken to put an end to urban disorder, while reiterating the recognition of Bafoussam, once again, as the cleanest town in the Region.

The Government Delegate congratulated motorbike riders, who, he said, have never ceased to educate other city dwellers on good hygienic practices and sanitation, adding that more efforts will be made to ensure that the city maintains its leading position in terms of cleanliness, organisation and beauty.

Nzete donated to the physically challenged persons, widows and orphans. In the sports domain, special attention was given to Racing Football Club of Bafoussam, which has made the city proud, by qualifying for the Elite II Football Championship.

The Delegate said, apart from the sporting equipment given to the club, the sum of FCFA 830,000 was contributed by elite and fans, while the City Council has promised to contribute an amount of FCFA 3 million as support to the team.
