Bamenda without water for close to three weeks

The Governor of the Northwest Region, Adolphe Lele l’Afrique has set up a technical committee to channel water from rivers to the dam which supplies the city of Ni John Fru Ndi.

The people of the city of Bamenda, the capital of North West do not have access to safe drinking water for nearly three weeks. The situation forced the Governor of the Region, Adolphe Lele l’Afrique to conduct a visit on the dam site that supplies the water area. The governor was accompanied by his staff and officials of Cameroon Water (CDE), the company responsible for the distribution of drinking water in Cameroon.

On the ground, Adolphe Lele l’Afrique and chaperones found that the water level has fallen to thirty meters at the dam. And as if that was not enough, the small amount of remaining water continued to escape through the holes in the tanks. The divers of the CDE immediately began the sealing of leaks while the Governor has established a Technical Committee to channel water from rivers to the dam to supply water to the city.

This committee led by the prefect of the Mezam includes, among others, the Government Delegate to the Bamenda Urban Council, the representative of the CDE and town halls. They must ensure that "all the rivers that feed the main dam are only channeled into the dam," said the governor. One is not sure that this problem can be resolved before the end of year festivities.
