Bandja public school rehabilitated

The building was inaugurated Tuesday in a ceremony chaired by the sub-prefect of Bandja, Patrick Suh.

"This building had become a death trap to children. The pillars were ruined and the ground strewn with potholes. Whenever it rained, the children had to move. The walls had holes in them and the classroom had became a haven for bandits and other criminals. “You have honoured us. We say thank you." Alain Blaise Kameni, Chairman of the Board of the public school of Bandja Group II remarked.

There was the inauguration of an administrative building and a building overhauled by the alternate member from Haut-Nkam, Hortense Kamanke.

Thérèse Beumo Dasi, Director of the school, also thanked the donor who "responded to their call to help improve learning condition of the school children."

Thérèse Beumo emphasized that this institution established in October 1989 still needs a classroom for multimedia so that learners can be trained in ICT. Other needs include dustbins, tables, benches, incineration pits, etc.

The donor, Hortense Kamanke in her speech, urged everyone in the school to take care of this gifts.

She made a tribute to the late Mayor of Douala V, Françoise Foning, for her incessant encouragement to work for the well-being of the people of the Department of Haut-Nkam.

"Foning inspired me very much. I will try to perpetrate some of the things she did. She was very generous and always listened to the people".

The sub-prefect of Bandja, Patrick Suh Ndele, who presided over the ceremony, did not fail, to congratulate the donor for her act.
