Two Ministers, Bello Bouba Maigari of Tourism and Jean Pierre Biyiti Essam have both been summoned to the Special Criminal Court by prosecutors following investigations on the case of embezzlement at the Cameroon Postal Services, CAMPOST, Cameroon Concord gathered from a reliable sources.
Our source in the nation's capital, Yaounde hinted that both men will appear before the court very soon to answer to charges of complicity to the embezzlement of public funds.
According to our source, Bello Bouba was Minister of Post and Telecom, while his political acolyte Jean Pierre Biyiti Essam was the Secretary General during the financial crisis at CAMPOST that culminated to many Cameroonians losing their savings worth billions of FCFA at CAMPOST.
A highly placed government official hinted our reporter in Yaounde that although the names of the ministerial duo did not appear in the report that was made public by the National Anti-Corruption Commission in 2011, the prosecutors now feel the two cabinet ministers are involved.
This new development brings the number to three political heavyweights involved in the CAMPOST corruption scandal. It is vital to include in this report that Minister Atanga Nji was recently questioned by the Special Criminal Court on his alleged involvement in the CAMPOST affair.
