"Collectif motocitoyens," a Yaounde-based motor bike riders' association is to get involved agriculture. Apart from being commercial moto-bike riders, the association is taking interest in poultry farming.
The revelation was made in Yaounde on July 20, 2016, at a press conference organised by the association in prelude to its upcoming seminar on the theme, "I am a motorbike rider, I am interested in agriculture."
The seminar, which will take place in Yaounde from July 25-26, 2016, aims at training and reorienting bike riders towards agriculture. "Since 2013, we have been working with some ministries.
That is why we are on the field to sensitise and organise bike riders. We are not asking them to let go their jobs, but we are only trying to orientate them in such a way that they can carry out other activities."
Meanwhile, members of "Collectif motocitoyens" are financing the project, but have contacted government for financial support, explained the President, Bertin Mathieu Fodjeu. The bike riders took inspiration from President Paul Biya's speech on February 10, 2016, during which he urged them to take interest in agriculture.
