Biya petitioned to end stay in Geneva

While Boko Haram gives more and more trouble to the Cameroonian army , Paul Biya, 81 years, continued his vacation until September 04 in Génève, surrounded by his close relations and the members of his first circle.

At the Intercontinental hotel, the least amounts for a stay is 820 francs Swiss (700 €, approximately 460 000 FCFA) a night, the head of the State occupied "his" residence (5800 €, approximately 3 800 000FCFA, the night) especially arranged on the last floor with panoramic sight in 360 degrees on the Geneva Lake and the Mount Blanc ".

This is scandalous for a country as Cameroun where at least 50% of the population live in poverty (with less than 700 FCFA per day). We call on Sociétale Responsible for Intercontinental in Geneva and all the other hotels to cease accommodating President Paul Biya and his entourage.

These last years, a Collective of the Democratic and Patriotic Organizations of Cameroonians in the Diaspora took courageous actions to denounce the scandal of these luxurious holidays of the president (and his entourage) of a country where "Cameroonians lack drinking water, where they die for lack of elementary care… where the children through the country attend schools in the open air, sitting on the ground for lack of buildings and benches…".

It is time Cameroonians support these efforts so that, Intercontinental hotel and other hotels contribute to the promotion of human dignity in Africa, and Switzerland in general, to cease to be accessory to the political and financial delinquency which destroys the human lives in Africa and Cameroon in particular.
