Biya pledges support to la Francophonie

Michaëlle Jean, the Secretary General of la Francophonie, who just completed her four-day official visit to Cameroon, April 16, 2015 received a warm welcome from the head of State, Paul Biya.

Indeed, the President of the Republic gave the La Francophonie SG over one hour hearing at the unity Palace April 14, 2015 in Yaoundé.

In the toast delivered over lunch offered by the presidential couple, Biya declared his determination to support the action of Michaëlle Jean at the head of the international organization of la Francophonie." You know that you can count on the support of Cameroon and mine", reassured President Biya.

Reacting after what she described as "exceptional welcome" offered by the Cameroonian authorities, the Secretary General of la Francophonie also promised the support of her organization to the victim of attacks by the Nigerian terrorist sect Boko Haram." "Cameroon is not alone in this crusade against Boko Haram", said Michaëlle Jean.

Before her audience with the head of State at the Unity Palace, the Secretary General of la Francophonie, who arrived in Cameroon April 13, had earlier spoken with the Prime Minister, Philémon Yang, and had a meeting at the Ministry of External Relations, during which she discussed economic cooperation between la Francophonie and Cameroon.

In the wake of this economic cooperation, Michaëlle Jean, received "Doctor Honoris Causa" from the University of Yaoundé I, before her departure from Cameroon.
