The President of Cameroon, SE Paul Biya, has instructed his Prime Minister, Philémon Yang, to conduct an investigation into the disastrous campaign of the Indomitable Lions at the FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014.
“The President of the Republic, His Excellency Paul Biya, has instructed on this day his Prime Minister, Chief of Government, to submit to him within a month the result of his investigations into the causes of the poor campaign of our flagship team, the Indomitable Lions at the World Cup in Brazil, with some proposals for an in-depth and urgent restructuring of the Cameroonian football,” the Secretary-General of the Presidency, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh, announced in an official statement on Wednesday.
Kicked-out of the tournament following three losses in as many games, the delegation of Cameroon landed in Yaoundé on Wednesday morning without head coach Volker Finke and 10 players.
It should be recalled that following their final warm-up match against Moldavia in Yaoundé on June 7, Samuel Eto’o and his team mates had boycotted the official ceremony of the handing over of the nation’s flag to the team by Prime Minister Philémon Yang.
And the next day, they had refused to board their flight to Brazil, waiting for a part of their bonuses to be paid before leaving Cameroon.
