Biya sends word of gratitude to Barack Obama

At the end of his participation in the first US/Africa Summit which was held in Washington from 5 to August 6, 2014, the President of the Republic, H.E. Paul Biya sent a message of thanks to the US President, Barack Obama.

It reads:

"Mr. President, when leaving your large and beautiful country, at the end of the Summit with African Heads of State and the Government of United States of America which was held in Washington from 5 to 6 August 2014, I will like to particularly thank you sincerely for the arrangements put in place for my smooth stay in your capital.

"Wide and deep discussions during this first US - Africa Summit , which was your initiative, brought forth a perfect convergence of views on the importance of Africa in the world stage as the necessary partnership between our continent and the United States of America.

"The place and role of the private sector for the achievement of this win-win partnership were clearly recognized.

"I would like to take this opportunity to let you know of my appreciation for the reaffirmation of your commitment and your support to our efforts for the preservation and the maintenance of peace and stability in our continent, sine qua non for any sustainable development.

"I hope that the Washington Summit marks a new beginning for a US- Africa mutually beneficial relationship.

"Please accept, Mr President, the renewed assurances of my highest consideration. Paul Biya"
