They were protesting against the ban of “moto-taxis” by the D.O.

The people of Blangoua in the Logone and Chari Division of the Far North, lived an urban guerrilla last April 10, 2016. Angry youths of the town landed in the D.O’s office and ransacked everything.

L’Oeil du Sahel said on Tuesday that the demonstrators “protested against the measures taken by the master of the land and his ban restricting movement of motorcycles in his command radius. This is also why gendarmes arrested on the morning of April 10, 2016, a young man. “

The spark started from this arrest. A witness said: “He works as a nightwatchman of the MTN antenna at Blangoua in the night and barber during the day. He, therefore, went to his second workplace on motorcycle when he was arrested and taken to the gendarmerie.”

The newspaper says after being informed of this situation, “the youths stormed the gendarmerie for his release not without asking the departure of the D.O., Rigobert Belele, and the lifting of the ban on the movement of motorcycles. Calm returned in the evening thanks to the reinforcement of the Gendarmerie from Makary; the damage is, however, important. “

Thus, besides the ransacked D.O’s office, “a small fire of the gendarmerie was narrowly subdued. The gift of the presidential couple, consisting of food and stored in a shop in the D.O’s office, was swept away by protesters who also destroyed the home of the 2nd Deputy Mayor .”
