Boko Haram Fight: Dynamique Citoyenne congratulates government

A coalition of civil society organisation dubbed Dynamique Citoyenne has called on public authorities to not allow Boko Haram to distract them from other affairs which contribute to an effective national cohesion.

Addressing reporters at the association’s headquarters in Douala on August 5, 2015, Jean Bertin Kemajou, association’s focal point in the Littoral, made allusions to eviction in some cities of the country that has rendered some people homeless.

In a statement issued at the end of the news event, Dynamique Citoyenne congratulates the armed forces for their prompt mobilisation in the fight against the Nigerian sectarian group, Boko Haram. The two-page document calls on the public to be more vigilant, collaborate with security forces and condemns recent attacks on the civilian population by the terrorists.

In dismay, it notes that war is often between two armed forces defending their civilian population and not armed forces attacking civilian population as it was the case in the Far North of Cameroon where Boko Haram assailed civilians. As a result, the ecumenical association extends sincere condolences to all civilian and military families which have been victims in the barbaric attacks.

In the strongly worded statement, the ringleader, Abubakar Shekau, has been called upon to dissolve his sectarian group within the shortest timeframe. It also discourages any inclinations towards violating the rights of the people.

Existing since 2005, Dynamic Citoyenne is an independent network of civil society organisations that follows up public policies and cooperation strategies, notably human rights, good governance, among others.
