Boko Haram food supply convoy apprehended at Fotokol

Several bags of rice, maize and sorghum to Boko Haram in Nigeria were intercepted by the Cameroonian army.

Cameroonian defense forces come again with a strike on Dec. 9, 2014 in their fight against Boko Haram. After unsuccessfully trying to make Cameroon a rear base, the fighters of the Islamic sect want to transform Cameroon into their supply of food field.

Cut off from all supplies by the southern Nigeria fighters, Boko Haram diverted the vigilance of the Cameroonian defense forces to search for food. These are looting the shops of traders in the border towns of Fotokol, Kousseri, Banki, Amchide and taking with them all that is edible.

On Tuesday, December 9, 2014, a group of members of the sect responsible for hundreds of bags of food on donkeys hit the road to Gambarou, stronghold of Boko Haram.

The porosity of the boundary between Cameroon and Nigeria, enabled the group to travel unnoticed for about twenty kilometers before being caught narrowly by Cameroonian forces.

The abuses caused by Boko Haram fighters in the three states of North Eastern Nigeria have forced the villagers to take refuge in Cameroon. Businesses became idle and plantations were abandoned.
