Boko Haram kills 54, attacks Cavaye Yeguie Djibril's residence

December 26 2014 has gone down in the history of the Far North region as a day that will live in infamy. The Nigerian Islamic sect Boko Haram launched a massive terrorist operation targeting the village of Tokombere between Mora and Kolofata in the Mayo-Sava Division killing 54 persons among them 4 members of the Cameroon elite force.

Information that filtered to our political desk some few hours ago revealed that the speaker of the National Assembly Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril and his wife had arrived in Tokombere early in the weekend for a wedding ceremony of one of their offspring.

Our source reported that “Boko Haram militants responded as if they had intelligence on the location and mission of the National assembly speaker”. The militants raided the speaker’s village with rocket fire and attempted taking the speaker’s family hostage.

A Cameroon military officer who contributed to this report but sued for anonymity said the elements of the Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR) were ordered to stage a commando mission evacuating the Cavaye Yeguie Djibril family under heavy military escort from Tokombere to Maroua, the capital of the Far North region.
