The Boko Haram sect is no longer based only in Nigeria where it extended its terrorist acts in neighbouring countries. Now, this Islamist sect has a base in Cameroon.
The Cameroonian military forces recently discovered an important training camp belonging to Boko Haram on Cameroonian territory. According to sources very close to the Cameroonian army, this training centre facilities were in the locality of Guirvidik, in the Department of Mayo-Danay Region of the far North.
"The camp had nearly 100 children ranging from 7 to 15 years. They were "framed" by 45 instructors' said Polycarpe Essomba, Cameroon correspondent of Radio France Internationale (RFI).
The teenagers and their instructors are operating in Maroua, in the premises of the legion of gendarmerie of the far North. During this operation, the Cameroonian authorities fell on elements who betrayed a certain cynicism of the instructors.
"Images were captured on the mobile phone of the trainers where they are seen in the process of slaughtering people" noted Guibaï Gatama, managing editor of the daily L'Oeil du Sahel, who added that "the Mayo Danay was considered so far one of the quietest departments of the far North".
A year ago, Cameroon launched a war against Boko Haram, an Islamic sect of Nigerian origin. This war, according to non-official sources, has already caused the death of about 2500 people.
