Boy allegedly murders father in New Bell

The act follows a series of attempt to get his father give him a share of the property to no avail.

Awe-struck inhabitants of New Bell in the economic capital are still finding it hard to come to terms with Thursday’s grievous mishap.

A 25-year-old young man supposedly angry over his father’s persistent refusal to give him right over a part of his properties, including the right to rents from one of two houses and some money, buried a sword in his father’s tummy.

Two close neighbours, visibly hard put to comprehend the demand of the young man over the last weeks, said they had on occasions overheard the quarrels over the issue between the father and son. Hear one of the neighbours: “Only last night at about 11 pm we heard a shrill cry from Pa K.M. apartment. It was Jeanette crying and as we got out and rushed to their apartment we found the man lying there in a pool of his own blood.”

Other inhabitants of Denier Poteau were immediately alerted but Pa K.M. soon gave off the ghost. In the midst of the confusion the incident created, the young man quickly vamoosed before it was alleged that he committed the act, according to the testimony of the man’s 12-year-old daughter, Jeanette.

The little girl also told some elders of the neighbourhood and quarter head that his brother had been mad about his demands over a month earlier. She said the boy had asked to right to collect rents from another of his father’s three-storey building at PK5.

It was yesterday in the morning that the elders and quarter heads visited the scene and began arrangement for a judicial inquest.

She explained that her brother had once told her of travelling abroad; and besides he smokes and regularly consumes alcohol. The corpse was reportedly taken to the Laquintinie Hospital Mortuary yesterday.
