CMR, Nigeria to control media on cross-border security

Cameroon and Nigeria have just agreed on the "need for a coordinated control of the media", in the field of information on the fight against cross-border insecurity.

This resolution is contained in the final communiqué having sanctioned the 3rd session of the Committee on border security held during the weekend in the Cameroonian capital, Yaounde.

However, the two countries agreed to consult before any transmission of information to such media, in order to avoid compromising the safety of the operations.

Concerning cross-border security in general, Cameroon and Nigeria agreed on the acceleration and the finalization of the Protocol's conduct of military operations on the subject of the common organization of bilateral naval exercises, improving and intensifying the exchange of intelligence in the fight against money laundering.

Trafficking in drugs, weapons and other forms of illicit and criminal activities, the extradition of the suspects to carry out such activities, the creation of vigilance committees or even the Organization of information and campaigns to raise awareness of cross-border communities, traditional leaders and religious authorities, are also part of the panoply of the adopted resolutions.
