The equipment at the Center for diffusion in Bertoua was consumed by fire. The centre of diffusion of the Cameroon Radio Television (CRTV), located in Nkolbikon in Bertoua, in the eastern region, was consumed by fire on Tuesday, reports the daily Cameroon.
Listeners of Crtv-East are now deprived of public radio signal since yesterday, just as employees of this station have also been forced to stop work. The fire occurred as a result of a short-circuit and overload energy.
Tuesday, after a power failure, the head of the technical centre of the CRTV decided to turn on the generator to ensure the dissemination of programs without interruption. "Unfortunately, Marigoh Bar did not notice that light has returned in the district and at the level of the distribution centre. Generator continued to run leading to the fire outbreak", Cameroon Tribune learnt.
This overload of energy led to the explosion of machines. The technician, victim of the shock, has been admitted at Bertoua regional hospital at the intensive care unit. Since September 16, the eastern region is weaned of national radio signal, hoping that the situation will be restored shortly.
