CRTV to launch five new channels in Cameroon

CRTV, the public operator of radio and television in Cameroon announced the launch of five additional channels, bringing it to six channels offered by the operator.

The announcement was made during the opening ceremony of the three days forum on how filled the new TV channels in development. The additional channels will be thematic and specialized in different areas and could be named as CRTV-SPORT, CRTV-INFO, CRTV-CULTURE, CRTV-MUSIC and so on.

The transition to digital production and broadcasting in Cameroon offers many opportunities especially through multiple channels. The main objective of the forum is to brainstorm on the quality and types of programs to offer to the public in Cameroon.

According to the Cameroonian Minister of Communication, Issa Bakary Tchiroma, operators should offer attractive programs in order to attract maximum of viewers. On the other hand, Jacques Fame Ndongo, minister of higher education present at the forum said that Cameroon should identify themselves with their TV programs.

Cameroon Radio Television (CRTV) is a major government-controlled radio and television broadcasting company in Cameroon. It covers all the ten regions of Cameroon and the coverage is done in French, and also in as the country is bilingual. CRTV programmes include home-produced documentaries, magazines, news analysis, and imported series from Asia and Brazil.
