Students, staff and Faculty of the School of Information Technology (SIT) were involved in a clean-up campaign at the 5th Police Mobile Intervention Unit in Buea.
According to the Vice Dean, Tiako Fanni, it was a great opportunity to serve the community adding that, gestures like this go a long way to develop the mindset of students on the concept of community service.
Faculty members participating at the campaign said it is a practical example and learning ground for students to develop team spirit and get to properly understand the concept of volunteerism.
On the part of the students, it was an extraordinary experience rendering services for free. Foe Ursula added that it was enriching as it also gave her the opportunity to meet the superintendent of Police one on one permitting her to have knowledge on how to contact the security service in times of emergencies.
In a thank you remark, the Superintendent of Police Nana Roger applauded the students, staff and faculty of the SIT for such an initiative while making available a practical guide on how to get immediate help from his service.
