Cameroon-Morocco: Ever-growing Bilateral Relations

For over 50 years now, relations and cooperation ties between Cameroon and the Kingdom of Morocco have been growing from strength to strength with the Moroccan government offering training scholarships to Cameroonian students. Ambassador Lahcen Sailé of Morocco to Cameroon says trade exchanges between the two countries are evolving and Moroccan private groups specialized in different socio-economic sectors are also leaving an indelible mark in their contribution to Cameroon’s 2035 emergence vision.

In the domain of culture, Morocco has over the years supported the promotion of African cinema in Cameroon through the Yaounde International cinema festival called “Ecrans Noirs.” In the media landscape, the Moroccan private radio station called Radio Medi I International broadcasts in Cameroon. Cooperation in the agricultural and transport sectors will soon receive a concrete bolster taking into account the visits Cameroon’s cabinet ministers in the two sectors paid to Morocco.

The major focus of cooperation between Cameroon and Morocco translates Morocco’s general policy towards fellow African countries south of the Sahara that hinges on promoting south-south cooperation.
