Cameroon celebrates African Child's Day

The 24th Edition of the African Child day is being celebrated this Monday 16th June 2014. In Cameroon, junior parliamentarians congregate at the National assembly to learn about government’s policies aimed at improving their welfare.

The session which is the 16th since its inception shall be highlighted by questions from the children and answers from members of government.

Discussions shall mainly focus on the theme chosen for the 2014 celebration which is “Quality education, free and accessible to all”.

Prior to the session, the Minister of Basic Education, Youssouf Hadidja Alim had a conversation with the junior parliamentarians drawn from all divisions of Cameroon.

She briefed the children on the different measures put in place to safeguard the rights of the child in Cameroon and assured them that one of government’s top priorities is to provide quality education to children.
