Cameroon gets $108 Million from France for flood prevention

France will lend Cameroon 52 billion CFA francs ($108 million) to fund the second phase of a water drainage project in the capital, Yaounde.

The project seeks to manage flood-related risks and reduce associated health risks for residents on the banks of the Mfoundi river which runs through the city, the government and the French Development Agency said in a joint statement.

More than 75,000 people are expected to benefit from the loan, according to the statement signed by Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, Minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development, and AFD CEO Anne Paugam.
