Cameroon intensify efforts to flush out terrorism in Kolofata

Amadou Ali, Vice Prime Minister, Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of relations with the assembly and the Lamido of Kolofata in the Far North Region appear to be the two personalities targeted by the group which apparently are known to be heavily armed.

The people of the traditionally quiet sub-division situated some 90 kilometers from Maroua the capital of the Far North region remain shocked after recent insurgencies by Boko Haram in the area.

The Vice Prime Minister absent from home at the time of the attack went unharmed; unfortunately, his wife and sister in law were abducted. Even more, his bodyguard was killed.

Vehicles were also seized from the home of vice Prime Minister who left Yaounde for the far north region to feast Ramadan with his kin. The Lamido-Mayor of Kolofata and his family (two children) were also abducted by this group.

The Cameroon’s defense forces raised an alarm soon after to pushed back the Boko Haram assailants and secured the area. The search for the abducted persons was intensified as security forces combed the area.

It was disturbing news to the public but one that heightens the determination to close in ranks and fight combat this group that has become a nuisance to the people.
