Activities marking the 31st edition of the International Women’s Day have been launched at the University of Yaounde 2 Soa with the call on women to intensify efforts in fighting the obstacles on gender equality.
The meeting was presided by the representative of the Rector of the University of Yaounde 2 Soa Professor Alice Delphine Tang amidst Yaounde 2 female staff including the General Coordinator of Women’s activities Professor Xaverie Oka Atenga.
According to the General Coordinator of Women’s activities Nationwide, round table discussions are vital to help women make concrete commitments to overcome gender equality gaps.
Apart from educative talks, the administration had earlier donated some material and financial support to female staff and students living with disabilities.
They also chanted the women’s anthem and took a retrospect on the history of the International Women’s day and the terms of reference of last year’s celebration.
The women finally reaffirmed their commitments to meet challenges and overcome gender equality.
