Cameroon organizes AFCON after 43 years

The country has been designated Saturday in Ethiopia, as host of the tournament, by the Executive Committee of CAF. AFCON 2019 will therefore be played in Cameroon. The allocation of the Organization of the 32nd African nations Cup was made in Cameroon, after the single tournament organized in 1972.

According to the president of the African football Confederation during a press Saturday in Addis Ababa conference, "the conclusions of the assessment of the AFCON (18-22 may 2014) mission and the submission of the candidature file (Friday, 19 September), have campaigned in favour of Cameroon. The large part of the 14 permanent members of the Executive Committee were in favour of Cameroon.

The Secretary General of the Cameroon football Federation, Tombi in Roko Sidi, presented the trappings of each of the five selected cities (Yaoundé, Douala, Bafoussam, Limbe and Garoua) to host the tournament, after the passage of the inspectors of CAF.

CAF also appointed Côte d'Ivoire, as host country of the 2021 CAN, Guinea from 2023. Algeria, according to some sources, could be "legitimate" of the 2017 tournament slated for 2015 by the announcement of the host country. In any case for 2019, the countdown of the organisation has been launched.
