Cameroon reassured of all-round French support

The visiting Speaker of the French National Assembly, Hon. Claude Bartolone on October 27, 2014, spent a busy time at the National Assembly in Yaounde. Speaking at a lunch held in his honour by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon.

Cavaye Yeguie Djibril, the guest reassured Cameroon of his government’s support in tackling security challenges in the Far North and East Regions. He also spoke of his readiness to consider any training needs from the Cameroon Parliament, develop cultural links and foster mutual economic development.

In his toast, Hon. Cavaye lauded cooperation between the two parliaments and the French ENA institute of administration that has seen the training of 84 parliamentary staff in the last three years. Cameroon Parliament’s training institute, CEFAP, he said, now trains parliamentary staff from an increasing number of countries in the Central African sub-region.

The lunch was also attended by Senate President Marcel Niat Njifenji, Prime Minister Philemon Yang, the Vice Prime Minister, Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Relations with the Assemblies, Amadou Ali, and External Relations Minister, Prof. Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo.

The Speaker of the French National Assembly, who was accompanied by the country’s Ambassador to Cameroon, Her Excellency Christine Robichon, later met with Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril, visited CEFAP and held discussions with some members of the National Assembly.
