The 7th edition of the National Technology Days has opened in Yaounde under the theme “Creativity, a driver of industrial and economic growth”.
The event which started on Wednesday 22nd October, 2014 is aimed at bringing together inventors and researchers from all over the country, towards a showcase of innovation.
Prominent amongst such inventions are those in the domains of energy, agriculture, software development and medicine.
While opening the exhibition at the Yaounde Conference Centre, the Minister of Mines, Industry and Technological Development, Emmanuel Bonde described the event as an opportunity to discover the outstanding creativity of Cameroonians.
Minister Emmanuel Bonde noted that the exhibition is geared at encouraging talents as well as linking up inventors to industries, towards exploitation. He mentioned that this year’s theme is out to encourage local production which is being challenged by importation.
Amongst the innovations on display were exceptional ones like a device to check cardiac parametres of a pregnant woman and her foetus using a smartphone, electric cookers and grinding mills, amongst others.
Apart from exhibitions, the National Technological Days will also be characterised by workshops and debates with prize awards for the best innovations.
