Cameroonians express diverse views on New Year wishes

Members of the government and staff of Public and Private institutions began the New Year wishes ritual on Thursday 8th January 2015.

Though this has been a routine, not everyone is in agreement to the event. Some think New Year wishes presentations is pure waste of resources while others contend it is an important public relations endeavour.

It all started with Members of Government and the Diplomatic Corps sending their well wishes to Cameroon’s Head of State, President Paul Biya.

Then came First Lady Chantal Biya, assembling thousands of women from all walks of life; Senate President, National Assembly Speaker and Prime Minister this 12th January 2015. Other members of Government are due to takeover in the weeks ahead.

Arguments in favour of New Year wish presentation from corporate communication experts, are basically due to the fact that it is a unique occasion during which workers come together and not only to exchange pleasantries, but to agree on a new direction.

A civil servant from a regional service explained that the event is an opportunity for the Head of State to meet face-to-face and shake hands with the Ministers, diplomats and other top officials from the various the ministries.
